Sail the Amalfi Coast

A 7-Day Adventure Along Italy's Most Spectacular Coastline

Naples • Procida • Ischia • Capri • Positano • Amalfi • Herculaneum

Colorful villages cascading down towering cliffs. Hidden sea caves. Ancient Roman cities. Incredible Italian food. Island harbors. Limoncello. And some of the most recognizable coastline anywhere in the world.

Welcome to the Amalfi Coast.

This is Italy from an entirely different perspective.

Wake up aboard the catamaran with Capri on the horizon. Have coffee on deck before diving into the Mediterranean. Sail beneath the cliffs of Positano. Spend the afternoon exploring an ancient Roman city and the evening eating handmade pasta at a waterfront restaurant.

With STL Skippers, the boat isn't simply where you sleep.

It's how you experience Italy.

Here's a taste of what seven days sailing the Bay of Naples and Amalfi Coast could look like.

DAY 1

Naples → Procida

Welcome to Italy

Step aboard, unpack your bags and settle into Mediterranean life.

Once everyone is comfortable with the catamaran, we'll leave the marina and the city behind and begin our first sail across the Bay of Naples.

Our destination is Procida.

Smaller and quieter than neighboring Capri and Ischia, Procida is exactly how we'd want to begin the trip.

Pastel-colored fishing houses line the waterfront at Marina Corricella, fishing boats bob in the harbor and small restaurants spill out onto the waterfront.

We'll find our spot, pour a drink and toast the beginning of the adventure.

Then it's ashore for our first Italian dinner.

Fresh seafood.

Homemade pasta.

A bottle of Italian wine.

Not a bad first night.

Experience: First Sail • Procida • Marina Corricella • Waterfront Dinner • Italian Wine • Mediterranean Sunset

DAY 2

Procida → Ischia

Hot Springs & Island Life

Coffee on deck.

Breakfast aboard.

Then we'll raise the sails and head toward Ischia.

Known for its volcanic landscape and thermal springs, Ischia offers a completely different experience from the neighboring islands.

We'll find a beautiful spot for a swim before heading ashore.

Spend the afternoon exploring the island, visit a thermal spa, wander through an Italian village or make your way toward the dramatic Aragonese Castle rising from the sea.

Later we'll find a restaurant and settle in for another long Italian dinner.

Nobody is watching the clock.

Experience: Sailing • Swimming • Thermal Springs • Aragonese Castle • Island Exploring • Italian Cuisine

DAY 3

Ischia → Capri

Sail to an Icon

Today we're heading somewhere you've probably seen in pictures your entire life.

Capri.

But we're arriving the right way.

From the water.

As we approach the island, enormous limestone cliffs rise straight out of the Mediterranean.

We'll spend part of the day exploring Capri's coastline from the catamaran and dinghy.

Weather and conditions permitting, we can explore some of the island's famous sea caves and cruise past the towering Faraglioni rock formations.

Then it's ashore.

Explore Capri Town.

Grab an espresso.

Walk the narrow streets.

Visit the Gardens of Augustus.

Or find somewhere overlooking the Mediterranean and simply enjoy being on Capri.

Experience: Open-Water Sailing • Capri • Faraglioni • Sea Caves • Swimming • Capri Town • Italian Dinner

DAY 4

Capri → Positano

The Amalfi Coast

This is one of those mornings you'll remember.

We'll leave Capri behind, raise the sails and point the bow toward the Amalfi Coast.

Before long, one of Italy's most famous villages begins appearing along the cliffs.

Positano.

Pastel-colored buildings seem to tumble down the mountainside toward the Mediterranean.

And from the water, the view is incredible.

We'll spend the afternoon swimming and enjoying the coastline before heading ashore.

Walk the narrow streets and stairways of Positano.

Browse the small shops.

Stop for an Aperol Spritz.

Find some gelato.

Then settle into a restaurant overlooking the water.

Fresh pasta.

Seafood.

Italian wine.

And Positano glowing against the cliffs after sunset.

This is exactly why we came to Italy.

Experience: Sailing • Positano • Swimming • Shopping • Aperol Spritz • Italian Cuisine • Sunset

DAY 5

Positano → Amalfi

Cruise the Coast

Today, we're in no hurry.

We'll work our way east along one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in the world.

Tiny villages cling to enormous cliffs above us.

We'll pass places like Praiano and the dramatic Furore Fjord, stopping whenever the Mediterranean gives us a good reason.

Maybe it's a quiet cove.

Maybe everyone wants another swim.

Maybe lunch aboard turns into a two-hour affair.

That's sailing.

Eventually we'll make our way toward Amalfi.

Once ashore, explore the historic streets, visit the beautiful Amalfi Cathedral and sample one of the things this region is famous for.

Lemons.

More specifically...

Limoncello.

Tonight we'll find a great local restaurant and enjoy another evening along the Italian coast.

Experience: Coastal Sailing • Hidden Coves • Swimming • Furore • Amalfi • Cathedral • Limoncello

DAY 6

Amalfi → Herculaneum

Walk Through Ancient Rome

Today we trade the swim gear for walking shoes.

We'll sail back toward the Bay of Naples and make our way ashore for one of the most fascinating experiences of the trip.

Herculaneum.

When Mount Vesuvius erupted in AD 79, Herculaneum was buried along with nearby Pompeii.

But Herculaneum was preserved differently.

Buildings, mosaics, streets and even wooden structures survived beneath the volcanic material, giving us an extraordinary look at everyday Roman life nearly 2,000 years ago.

We'll spend part of the day exploring the archaeological site and walking through an ancient Roman city with Mount Vesuvius looming nearby.

Depending on the day and everyone's interests, we could also make time for Naples, visit a local winery near Vesuvius or simply return to the catamaran for one last afternoon on the water.

Tonight we'll raise a glass to our final full evening in Italy.

Experience: Herculaneum • Ancient Rome • Mount Vesuvius • Archaeology • Italian Wine • History

DAY 7

Bay of Naples → Naples

One Last Sail

Nobody is ready to head home.

So we're going to squeeze everything we can out of our final morning.

Coffee on deck.

Breakfast overlooking the Bay of Naples.

One more swim.

And one last sail.

We'll make our way toward the marina with Mount Vesuvius rising above the bay behind us.

Seven days earlier, everyone stepped aboard with luggage and expectations.

Now we're coming back with hundreds of pictures, a few bottles of wine or limoncello, and probably a new appreciation for long Italian dinners.

And somewhere during that final sail, someone will inevitably ask:

“So…where are we sailing next?”

This Isn't a Cruise.

There are no giant ships unloading thousands of passengers beside us.

No excursion buses.

No buffet lines.

And nobody telling you that you have exactly 90 minutes to experience Positano.

This is your week.

Want more sailing?

We'll sail.

Want to spend the afternoon swimming beneath the cliffs?

Jump in.

Want history?

We'll walk streets built by the Romans.

Want to spend three hours eating pasta and drinking wine at a waterfront restaurant?

We're in Italy.

That's practically required.

And if everyone decides that the little cove we just discovered looks too good to leave?

Then we stay awhile.

Weather, sea conditions, marina availability and local regulations ultimately determine where we can safely go.

Beyond that, we build the adventure around the people aboard.

Come Sail Italy With Us.

Seven days. Legendary islands. One incredible coastline. One catamaran.

Swim beneath the cliffs of Capri.

Sail past the Faraglioni.

Arrive in Positano from the sea.

Drink limoncello in Amalfi.

Walk through an ancient Roman city.

Eat incredible Italian food.

And watch the Mediterranean sunset from the deck of your catamaran.

Don't just visit Italy.

Experience it from the water.
